Every Thursday evening this summer join Baltimore Humane Society at Hunt Valley Towne Centre for Bark Till Dark. The no-kill shelter will be presenting a different program each week until August 28th. Your entire family is invited, including your dog! Hunt Valley Towne Centre, now a pet-friendly mall, is hosting the event and each Thursday many of their retailers will be offering special discounts as part of the Bark Till Dark event. Baltimore Humane Society will be presenting interpersonal workshops on topics like housetraining, basic commands, coping with fireworks and thunder, teaching tricks to your dog, and even what to do about quirky and embarrassing pet behaviors.

GEDCO’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament: In partnership with faith and community based organizations, GEDCO provides affordable housing, supportive services, and emergency assistance to our northeastern Baltimore neighbors in need. Join us on August 22nd from 7:00am to 3:00pm for a full day of golfing with prizes, contests, raffles, food, beverages, and more. “Mermaid’s Kiss” is the Oyster Recovery Partnership’s annual fundraiser and awards ceremony. It is a celebration of efforts – past, present and future – to restore the Chesapeake Bay oyster. We celebrate the oyster with friends, food, music and fun. Each year “Mermaid Kiss” showcases fine cuisine from restaurant members of ORP’s Shell Recycling Alliance, beautiful art and jewelry depicting the bay and top music from the region. The event includes a VIP preview party, during which the “It’s My Bay” awards are presented to public policy makers, individuals, corporations and others who have made significant contributions to restoring oysters.

Bike to the Beach is hosting its 2nd annual Bike to the Beach Charity event from Baltimore to Dewey Beach, DE on Friday, August 1, 2014. Bike to the Beach Baltimore is a fully supported 100-mile Charity Cycling event from Baltimore, MD to Dewey Beach, DE offered on the first weekend of August to educate our community about the benefits of cycling and to raise awareness and funding for autism.
The 3.1 mile run/walk begins at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and ends on the field. Runners will receive a race shirt, race packet and refreshments. Race winners in each age group will be proudly announced in a pre-game ceremony.
There is no better time to enjoy picking crabs with friends and family than in the summer! BARCS is holding their first crab feast on Friday, September 12 from 7:30pm -11:30pm at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood. Tickets are only $55 each for all you can eat (beer included!) or $500 for a table of 10.
A repeatedly sold out event, Flip Flop Festivus offers an elegant night on the town in a resort casual atmosphere. The evening kicks off with an exclusive VIP reception that features past and present players from the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles and media personalities. Proceeds from Flip Flop Festivus will directly benefit the groundbreaking research to create a diagnostic test for Sarcoidosis, which would save millions in healthcare expenses. They also will support the Life and Breath Foundation’s efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle for patients, including a healthy diet, exercise and increased health awareness.
