Baltimore restaurant owner Michael Tabrizi is putting a meaningful twist on the traditional “Restaurant Week”. The twist: July 20th-25th is Homeless Restaurant Week in Baltimore. Mr. Tabrizi wants to make a difference in the lives of Baltimore’s homeless with your help.
From his Facebook page: “I will be serving a hot nutritious meal, sparkling apple cider, and ice cream.”
Because of the psychological impact of being homeless, the aim of this event is to provide social interaction through a fine dining experience giving diners hope. Tabrizi’s is situated on the Inner Harbor with beautiful views of Baltimore’s waterfront.
“Those experiencing homelessness experience mental anguish, a loss of dignity, depression, and feelings of personal insecurity. I’m doing it the right way so they can feel a champagne flute against their lips, a heavy fork and a knife, a cotton clean napkin, a dinner china plate but for most making them feel -Hope.”
“It isn’t about revenue and money right now, we’ve done restaurant week before and we know the numbers, but right now it’s more important to promote the welfare of the city and its residents rather than to promote the business.”
